O LORD our God, this Table is as big as your heart.
Big enough for all the world, and then some.
Big enough for everyone who hungers and thirsts for a better life.
Help us, we pray, to honor this Table with a largeness of mind and soul.
Large thoughts and great compassion.
Big ideas and a vast mercy.
Still our small thoughts, LORD, for we have them.
Quiet our little ideas, lest they give birth to even smaller deeds.
With the Spirit of Jesus Christ, O God, push back the boundaries and grow us large.
With the love of Jesus Christ, channel our lives to the highest ideals and great service.
With the kindness of Jesus, flood our lives with the true strength of gentleness.
In our words, O God, may there be peace.
In our deeds, dear God, justice.
In our lives, hope for the world, as you bend the arc time to make all things new.
It is with Christ we stand, dear God.
For him, we live.
In him, we find our strength and our purpose. Amen and Amen!
I’m really glad to be here. It’s a miracle, ya’ know, that any of us are.
