A Baby, a Blessing! A Husband and Wife
ST. DENIO 188.8.131.52 (“Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise”)
A baby, a blessing! A husband and wife,
A prayer of thanksgiving for new human life!
New parents went up to the Temple to pray,
To offer their baby to God on that day.
A baby, a journey, two parents, two doves,
A gift humbly given in thanks for God’s love!
An old man named Simeon rose to embrace
That wonderful baby, that sign of God’s grace.
A baby— the One that the prophets foretold—
A woman named Anna, so wrinkled and old!
She praised God and told what this baby would bring;
She thanked God for letting her see such a thing.
A baby, a blessing, for all of us, too!
O God, we now offer our praises to you—
For we know the time of our waiting is done.
We’ve seen our salvation in Jesus your Son.
