Hello, first I want to thank you for running the article about divestment in the recent March issue of The Outlook. This coverage certainly helps sustain the important conversation about how Presbyterians might exercise biblical ethics in their stewardship.

Alas, the photo you used was seriously misleading: a cute little CAT forklift is decidedly not what the “Divest from Caterpillar” campaign is about. Rather, let me refer you to this photo: bit.ly/ArmoredBulldozer. Here you will see the kind of CAT D-9 supplied to Israel which in turn uses it to knock down Palestinian homes, olive orchards and other valuable crops …

Shame on you for inflaming the discussion on divestment with your color photo on the cover. Shame on Outlook for using a picture of a “cute” Caterpillar pallet lifter used in warehouse work.

Please show a picture of the heavily armored bulldozers and backhoes used in Palestine to tear down homes, tear up orchards of over 4,000 families, as well as build illegal roads and security walls.

These machines are giants, scary and awesome. Please show pictures of these terrible machines and the damage they do to structures and families and lives.
