Southport Presbyterian Church celebrates its 125th anniversary
Southport, NC (May 4, 2023) – Southport Presbyterian Church (SPC) is celebrating its 125th Anniversary with a community picnic on May 20, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., and a special worship service at 11 a.m. on May 21. A Festival Hymn Sing in the Sanctuary will precede the picnic. Guests are invited to come to one or both events.”
A special 125th-anniversary quilt and tapestry will be on display, along with artifacts of the church’s rich and interesting history in Southport. Those wishing to attend the picnic are asked to RSVP by May 14 on the church website; and non-members can call the church office at (910) 457-6811. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served along with sides, salads and desserts shared by those attending.
On Sun., May 21 the former pastor of SPC, the Rev. Dr. Ann B. Jahnes, will offer a special message at the 11 a.m. worship service. Afterwards, all are invited to the Fellowship Hall for refreshments and a photo slide presentation of the church history throughout the years.
