The Board of Directors of The Presbyterian Outlook Foundation meeting in Richmond, Va., September 6-7 voted to reorganize the staff and eliminate the position of publisher. Publisher Robert P. Baskin ended his service with the Outlook effective September 30 in order to pursue other business ventures.

Baskin, a financial and business executive, joined the Outlook in January 2005. He is a native Texan from a family of active Presbyterian ministers and laypersons. He is an elder of First Church in Richmond, recently serving as Clerk of Session.

“Bob brought a stability and financial clarity to the organization. He pressed for better reporting of Christian Education and a stronger elder focus,” said Stacy Johnson, Board president. “We appreciate his contribution to this ministry. All of us in the Outlook family will miss him.”

Reached at his office, Baskin said: “I remain committed to the ideals that the Outlook has stood for over the past 63 years — to present the news of the church and the denomination in a way that people can trust, that provides perspective, and that builds the community of believers.”
