Parents and teachers of children and youth

Losers, Loners, and Rebels: the Spiritual Struggles of Boys, by Robert C. Dykstra, Allan Hugh Cole, Jr., and Donald Capps (Westminster John Knox Press, paper, $19.95)

Written for adults, this book is still needed in your library’s youth or counseling or parenting section. Sensitively the authors examine the early years of adolescence as the time that shapes what boys will become as men. This volume is one of the first to consider boys’ developing faith. Parents and counselors of ages 11 to adult.

 

Children’s Ministry Resource Bible

(Nelson, hardcover, $42.99)

Intended for teachers of children ages 5 to 12, this study Bible contains color maps, lesson outlines, a teacher training section, full-page articles, sidebars and footnotes, and a concordance and pronunciation dictionary. What a great way to honor your Vacation Bible School director — give this book in his or her honor to the church library.
