PETERFALVA, Ukraine (PNS) Because of centuries-old discrimination against Roma people, children in Roma “camps” in this and other central European countries struggle mightily to get a decent education.
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) mission worker Nadia Ayoub is an early childhood education specialist serving two sprawling Roma camps in this neighborhood of Beregovo, near the Ukraine-Hungary border.
She teaches children ages 3 to 12 four days a week in whatever rooms are available in the homes of Roma parents.
