    • Map out broad themes of the assigned texts in their liturgical setting;
    • Introduce classical expressions of spiritual wisdom for the Lenten season;
    • Share insights into the contemporary significance of these ancient witnesses;
    • Foreground Old Testament texts as resources for the Lenten journey.

    order to help preachers get inside the larger themes and tensions of these texts
