LOUISVILLE (PNS) Neal D. Presa, Moderator of the 220th General Assembly (2012), has accepted a new ministry call with Village Community Presbyterian Church in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
Effective May 1, Presa will serve as the associate pastor for Family Ministries at the 1,000-member congregation in north San Diego County. His call was unanimously approved by San Diego Presbytery.
Presa’s new call concludes eleven years of ministry at Middlesex (N.J.) Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth Presbytery and three years of service on the faculty of New Brunswick Theological Seminary.
“After eleven years of service as solo pastor of Middlesex Presbyterian Church and three years on the faculty at New Brunswick Theological Seminary, I am deeply and profoundly grateful and humbled to have been called to serve as the associate pastor for Family Ministries at the Village Community Presbyterian Church and to be joining the San Diego Presbytery,” Presa said.
“The Village Church is a vibrant community of faithful and committed followers of Jesus Christ who delight in worshipping the triune God and engaging in mission in the community and throughout the world. I am excited to be joining the phenomenal staff team in supporting families of the Village Church, connecting faith with how it is lived out Sunday through Saturday in the lives of young people, and assisting in the shaping and nurture of disciples for Jesus Christ.”
Presa also will maintain preaching and teaching responsibilities.
Additionally, Presa has accepted the invitation of the faculty of North-West University in Potschefstroom, South Africa, to serve a three-year appointment as Extraordinary Associate Professor of Practical Theology.
His primarily responsibilities in that role will be to publish and present papers, articles, essays, and books for the university on Reformed theology, and to provide distance academic advising for masters and doctoral students in the development of their theses.
