davidlolengheadshot-001-black-reduced-size-croppedJEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (PNS) – Rev. David M. Loleng has joined the Presbyterian Foundation as Director of Church Financial Literacy and Leadership. Loleng most recently served as Associate for Evangelism in the Presbyterian Mission Agency and brings tremendous value to this new role – established after the Foundation was awarded a $1 million grant as part of Lilly Endowment Inc.’s National Initiative to Address Economic Challenges Facing Pastoral Leaders.

Loleng will oversee the Foundation’s programs and services related to the Lilly initiative – working to address the many financial challenges that diminish the effective ministry of pastoral leaders in their professionalsphere.  He will lead the effort to assemble a body of educational materials and tools for effective financial church leadership and administration and make them available to both pastors and lay leaders; develop a comprehensive overhaul of the PC(USA) congregational stewardship system (i.e., how Presbyterians view and raise funds for ministry and mission); and build on existing and create new technological means to deliver training, tools, and resources for pastoral and congregational leaders.

“David’s pastoral experience and his work at the Mission Agency developing multi-faceted curricula for the Engage program equips him with the skills to help bring this vision to reality,” said Tom Taylor, president and CEO of the Presbyterian Foundation.  “He also brings the expertise of an entrepreneur, having built a successful business of buying and selling rare books.”            Loleng holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Davis and a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. He has more than 20 years of ministry experience in Presbyterian churches in California and frequently speaks about evangelism, discipleship, missional life and culture at conferences, camps, synods, presbyteries, retreats and churches. He resides in Louisville, Ky., with his wife and two children.
