Steve Williams in First Presbyterian Church in Savannah, Georgia, relates that a project at that church is called “Backpack Buddies.” It provides weekend food to children of low-income families who attend a nearby elementary school. They also have a special Christmas project with handmade cards from Sunday school kids and a gift-wrapped Christmas book. It’s similar to an ecumenical project Big Spring, Texas, that provides weekend food for several schools.
