Another day has dawned, a day we anticipated would be like yesterday — full of despair and confusion, fear and sorrow — but we have gotten word that instead today is like no other. Today is the eighth day of creation, a day of resurrection, life and rejoicing. Almighty God, you have done as you said and raised your Son, Jesus, from the dead. The stone was rolled away, the women went to tend to the business of death but were ambushed with light and life and the presence of their risen Lord. God of power and might, God of grace and glory, Jesus Christ is risen today! Alleluia! All we thought buried and gone — possibilities, relationships, reconciliation, peace, life — walks the earth and breaths, vibrant and good. May this resurrection day transform how we see and navigate each and every day, telling and showing the world that death has lost its sting and God’s abundant life always has the last word. Amen.
