Prayer for the fourth day the 223rd General Assembly

Lord, what is the way forward? How do we know what to change and what to keep? What is essential and what is a stumbling block? We pray that even in our confusion and doubt, you work through our desire to be faithful. We trust that as we struggle with all of the chaos and suffering in the world, you remain steadfast, a light that cannot be overcome no matter how dense the darkness.

Today as we go out into the streets to make visible our witness for justice and peace, welcome and compassion. Walk with us, Lord, and sustain us when we get weary. Remind us that we march for those who cannot. We join our voices with those too long silenced. We strive to emulate our Lord who came to set the captives free and bring good news to the poor. We come together to demonstrate that the One we follow expands the family and reimagines what it means to be a member of the household of God.

Never let us forget that when one part of the body hurts, we all hurt and therefore we will not stop striving for the kin-dom of God until all rejoice together. Amen.
