Sheltering God, we pray for all those in the path of the polar vortex gripping the nation. The calls have been made and preparation time comes to an end as all brace for the extreme weather and the negative temperatures.
God, as we prepare for impact, we pray for those throughout the country who will encounter cold temperatures and ice, and for those in the Midwest who face record-breaking negative degree weather. We pray for the vulnerable ones who have heard the call and are doing the best they can.
We give thanks for all the shuttles, vans and companies offering free rides to shelters and warming centers. During this time of urgency, we give thanks for those working to prepare the streets, salt trucks, snow plows and those preparing shelters, bus stations, libraries and other community centers to aid all seeking warmth.
Holy One of Hope, bless the servant helpers, community members and government officials working to protect all of life. Source of every breath, be with all during this difficult time; be our warm embrace and calm during the storm.
Protecting Creator, ease your children’s anxieties and be the presence of love in our worried hearts. May we know of your steadfast love and protection is with us always. Amen.
