Risen Lord, on this day when your tomb is empty and you reveal yourself alive, we, like Mary, rejoice through tears. Your children in Sri Lanka went to worship singing alleluia only to be met with bomb blasts and carnage.
United through You, we lament with our siblings who right now cry out in pain and grief.
Today, of all days, hear our shouts of praise and horror, hope and lament, thanksgiving and disbelief. Comfort those who mourn, bring healing to the injured, send your disciples to share your peace.
Risen Lord, on this your day of resurrection, stand among the wounded and broken, show them your hands and side, bestow your Spirit and remind us all that death and evil will be defeated, crushed and consigned to the utter darkness by the overwhelming light of your present and very much alive love. Amen.
