Lord, when tornadoes touch down and flood waters rise, we are reminded of how quickly our lives can change, how fragile the foundations beneath us are and how powerful are the forces of nature that leave destruction in their wake.
We cling to your promise to remain steadfast and present with us no matter the chaos and uncertainty we face.
We give thanks for those who enter the fray and do the hard work of helping and healing. We stand with those who feel as if their lives have fallen apart, sending not only our thoughts and prayers, but our resources of time, money and skills.
Comfort those who grieve, God of grace. May all those in shock and suffering find mercy through your Spirit and your followers.
