Lord you come to us in the storm, refusing to let the perils of life overtake us. Trusting your power and mercy, we pray for those in the path of Isaias.
As the storm strengthens and people prepare for it to make landfill, grant safety to all who fear the coming wind and water. We ask for protection for those who lack the means to stockpile provisions, for those already reeling from the impact of the coronavirus, for first responders and healthcare providers already stretched and stressed.
As we continue to navigate these tumultuous times, feeling battered by forces beyond our control, we cling to the sure hope of your close and caring presence. We know that nothing – not hurricanes nor pandemics, not the evils of racism nor economic hardship – can separate us from your love.
May our gratitude for your saving grace move us to embody your compassionate kindness in radical, tangible ways to your beloved children right now in the path of so many threatening storms. In Christ’s name we pray, amen.
