A prayer for God’s growing kingdom

Then Jesus said, “ This is what God’s kingdom is like. It’s as though someone scatters seed on the ground, then sleeps and wakes night and day. The seed sprouts and grows, but the farmer doesn’t know how.”(Mark 4:26-27)

God, “your kingdom come; your will be done.”

In this season, it is hard for us to see your kingdom growing. Sometimes, we’re blinded by so many of the social ills and political heartlessness in our communities that it is hard to see that you’re planting and growing every day. Jesus’ time and context were 100 times worse than this, but he still preached and planted the Good News.

Open our eyes to see and our minds to understand that the fruits of your kingdom are ever planting, ever growing, ever ripening, ever harvesting and ever nourishing. Give us a taste of that good fruit and give us strength to pick up a hoe and sow. Amen.
