An Easter mealtime prayer

God who gives us abundant life,
in the resurrection of Christ,
you make for all of creation
a feast of newly risen life,
with the rich food of your forgiveness
and the well-aged wine of your grace.
As you have given us the seeds of new life,
may we use them to plant vineyards
that produce the fruits of your Spirit
for all your children throughout the world:
love for all who labor in sacred yet hard work,
joy for us here with the gift of nourishing food,
peace for the whole of your creation,
patience in our understanding and discerning,
kindness for each and every neighbor,
generosity for any who hunger or thirst,
faithfulness in the new life you give us in Christ,
gentleness for the smallest pieces of your creation,
and self-control for us to favor solidarity over judgment.
Be present with us on this new day
and bless all who provide for us,
planters, cultivators, harvesters, grocers, and cookers,
so that we may all share the gift
of the life and love you have given us freely
in the resurrection of Christ. Amen.
