Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services celebrates 65 Years of ministry at Waxahachie Campus

Waxahacie, Texas — On Saturday, September 19, 2026, Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services (PCHAS) celebrates 65 years of ministry at its, as the organization transitions from a campus-based model to a community-based approach. The celebration will include guided campus tours, “then and now” storytelling, and light refreshments.

PCHAS has brought hope, healing, and stability to children and families for more than six decades through Christ-centered care and family support across Texas, Missouri, and Louisiana, with 12 programs and 40 locations

PCHAS is transitioning its 18 homes on the 25-acre Waxahachie campus to a community-based model. New programs in the area will include Single Parent Family Support, Transitional Living for Young Adults, General & Advanced Education, and The Counseling Centers at PCHAS. Families in the Waxahachie area can also access housing assistance, employment help, money management, life skills, and parenting classes.

“PCHAS welcomed me…they didn’t just help me with housing, they helped me rebuild. They gave me stability, community, and something I hadn’t felt in a long time: hope. I was determined to break that cycle, not just for me, but for my daughter, Frankie.”

In 2025 alone, the Waxahachie Single Parent Family Program at PCHAS provided housing for 42 children and 15 families, with 96% of the families increasing their self-sufficiency. PCHAS also supported 8 young Waxahachie-based adults in starting college through the Advanced Education and Counseling Program.

“Since 1960, the Waxahachie campus has been a place where children found safety, belonging, and hope,” said David Thompson, President and CEO. “The mission of PCHAS has never been about a particular building — it has always been about serving children and families with Christ’s love. Today, we are reaching more children and families than ever through innovative services designed to meet people where they are.”

The September 19 celebration honors what the campus has been and welcomes the new possibilities of a community-based approach for many more generations to come.

The Waxahachie Campus Celebration is free and open to the public on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 1 PM – 4 PM. To RSVP, contact [email protected].
