LOUISVILLE — In recognition of his deep commitment to the pastoral care of ministers, a fund has been established in memory of the Reverend Roger Harp, longtime pastor, presbytery executive, and synod executive in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
Harp died in an automobile accident in February.
The Presbytery Pastoral Care Network (PPCN) established the new Extra Commitment Opportunity (ECO) fund in memory of Harp, who was among the early leaders of the network. The funds will be used by the PC(USA) Office of Vocation to assist in the promotion of pastoral care of ministers.
“The Roger Harp Memorial Fund will fill the biggest need in pastoral care by assisting with counseling expenses for pastors,” said Ken Waddell, PPCN. “Roger was a pastor’s pastor with a big heart. Hopefully this fund will be a valuable treasure in the heart of pastoral care.”
The ECO project number for the Roger Harp Memorial Fund is EO54901. Contributions to the fund can be made online at www.pcusa.org/give/online/default.jsp . For more information about the PPCN, go to www.pastoralcarenetwork.org.
