Mrs. Rowe was a longtime member of the church, serving it as an elder, and Sunday School teacher and superintendent. She was a longtime board member of the Presbyterian Home and Family Services and of the Presbyterian Outlook Foundation.
A lifelong resident of Fredericksburg, Mrs. Rowe was recognized for her many philanthropic endeavors in the areas of education, social action, community projects, and historic preservation.
Survivors include her husband of more than 50 years, Josiah P. Rowe III; four children and their spouses: Jeanette and Nicolas Cadwallender of Fredericksburg; Florence and Richard Barnick of Fredericksburg; Sallie and Raymond Roberts of Westfield, N.J., and Josiah and Erin Rowe of Cheshire, Conn. Also, eight grandchildren and a brother, F. Lewis Wilson Jr., of Stafford County, Va.
For many years, she welcomed international students into her home; many to this day call her “Mom.”
