March is a noted Old Testament scholar, the A. B. Rhodes Professor Emeritus of Old Testament at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, where he taught for 24 years. A graduate of Austin College, Austin Seminary, and Union Theological Seminary in New York (where he earned his Ph.D. in 1966), March served as an Old Testament professor at Austin Seminary for sixteen years prior to going to Louisville. An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and a prolific author of numerous articles and books, his most recent book, God’s Tapestry, published this year, grew out of Austin Seminary’s 2007 Currie Lectures.
At Louisville Seminary, March served as academic dean for six years and held numerous academic and administrative positions. He has lectured widely, including the Caldwell Lectures at Louisville Seminary in 2001 and the Brown Lectures at First Church in Dallas in 2008. March and his wife, the Rev. Dr. Lynn Gant March, will relocate to Austin in late summer where they will be in residence for at least one year.
