Dubuque withdraws from Alaska proposal

The University of Dubuque has announced it will “step away from the table” on plans to enter a partnership agreement with Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka, Alaska, according to Dubuque President Jeffrey F. Bullock.

“Our expectations for this project differ quite significantly from the expectations of some members of the Sheldon Jackson Board, and, most particularly, the leaders of the City of Sitka,” Bullock said in a public statement. Dubuque envisioned a project following the model of what was done on its Iowa campus, while some trustees and city officials seem to seek an entity to take over and run Sheldon Jackson College as it has operated, he said.
