| Dear Friends of The Presbyterian Outlook,It is with great joy and enthusiasm that I write to share that earlier this month, the board of the Presbyterian Outlook Foundation, Inc., elected the Reverend Doctor Jill Duffield to become the next editor and publisher of The Outlook. The board was overjoyed that Jill worked and prayed with our search team to discern the call of the Spirit to lead our ministry of reporting, publishing and commentary. She brings with her a wealth of experience. We hope many of you recognize her as she has been among the group of writers for The Outlook’s benedictory columns on the final pages of our magazine. In addition to her skills as a writer, Jill is also an accomplished pastor. An ordained teacher elder in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), she has served in small churches and in large congregations. She leaves her call as the associate pastor for discipleship and acting head of staff at Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina, to join our staff. As she joins The Outlook she brings with her a heart for local ministry, for pastoral excellence, and for the wonder and beauty of ideas as they shape the growth of the church through proclamation and service.  Her devotion to God and our collective ministry is evident in each piece she writes and in every sermon she preaches. From the dozens of applications we received, to the handful of candidates we interviewed, it was Jill’s love for writing, her varied background in publishing and her devotion to the church that consistently rose to the top. We are excited to introduce her to you. We are even more excited to watch her vision for The Outlook take shape.
Jill will begin her duties in February of next year. Until that time, The Outlook will continue to be steered by John Wimberly and our outstanding staff. After the first of the year, our pages will be graced with more information about Jill and the theological insight and acumen she will bring to our pages. I hope you will join our board and me in welcoming Jill to The Outlook. As always, I hope you’ll once again accept my thanks for your support of our magazine and its essential ministry to our beloved church. May grace abound,
Christopher H. Edmonston President, Board of Directors of the Presbyterian Outlook Foundation, Inc.

Dear Outlook reader, I look forward with joy and excitement to being the next editor of The Presbyterian Outlook. I am humbled and honored to join a ministry with such a long and important history of serving the church. I am profoundly mindful of the trust that The Presbyterian Outlook has earned through thoughtful and balanced reporting. I do not take that trust for granted and will work to maintain and build upon it. This is a challenging time to be the church. Much has changed, much will change, but God’s eternal Word remains steadfast. Our call is to proclaim it in new ways as the Spirit gives us ability. My fervent hope is that we will live out this call together, expanding and deepening the Outlook community, building each other up as we seek to share the love of Jesus Christ with a world yearning to hear Good News.
Jill Duffield
