This isn’t a thing someone can avert.
Son of Man is coming in clouds.
No one knows the day!
No one knows the hour
when Jesus will come in all of his power.
Son of Man is coming in clouds.
The sun will become darkened.
No light comin’ from the moon.
He’ll gather all of his elect,
showing that he’s coming soon.
…Yes, very soon! (Key change!… and slow it down for emphasis)
Heaven and earth
will pass away,
but our Lord’s words are here to stay!

May you be blessed this Advent season with the deep, abiding presence of the Spirit which reminds us that love abounds while waiting in mall traffic; that peace on earth is attainable as the uncle who likes to talk politics at the dinner table arrives; that joy of the promised Kingdom is present whether there are 10 or 1,000 at worship; and that the hope that is ours in Christ is relentless and everlasting! Amen.
