Northern Ireland/Scotland shared site:
In 2015/2016, YAVs will be part of a shared site in Northern Ireland and Scotland. Individuals will live and serve in either Belfast, Northern Ireland or Glasgow, Scotland. Volunteers will live and serve with local churches and community projects to address the societal divisions and economic concerns in each of their local communities. As a shared site, this year the volunteers in Glasgow and Belfast will share two retreat times – one in Ireland and one in Scotland, and also be able to visit each other’s local communities and placement sites. The Northern Ireland Site Coordinator, PCUSA Mission Co-Worker Doug Baker, will also visit and spend time with the Glasgow volunteers and supervisors during this first year of this new site. New York, New York: 2nd Year YAV Site
If it exits, its here.
New York City feels like the capital of the world…just ask a NYer. Beyond that biased bravado, there is a legitimate argument, as the world gathers here and explodes with dynamism. Volunteers will witness and work with a city that loves hard, lives big, yet suffers too much. Come and learn. Come and teach. Find God in the city.
This site is open to second year volunteers, either national or international. We believe the volunteers returned from their present sites will come with skills and experiences in cross-cultural situations, an enthusiasm for service, a faithfulness to endure heartbreak, a spirit to thrive in a vast, diverse metropolitan site, a commitment to simple living, a desire to live in Christian community, a willingness to share their vision with NYers, an openness to challenge, and a love for all God’s children.
