Lenten devotions — Year B (2018)

Are you looking for theologically sound, inspiring and affordable Lenten devotions for the congregation?

5 weeks of Lenten devotions plus bonus prayers for Holy Week — $19.99

Lent provides the liturgical occasion for self-examination, prayer, Bible study and intentional reflection on discipleship. Often, congregations have the desire to mark a “holy Lent” but not the tools. You want to pray daily or read the Bible more frequently or try a new spiritual practice, but doing so is a challenge in an already very full life.

The Presbyterian Outlook has created theologically sound, accessible and user-friendly Lenten devotions for congregations written by editor Jill Duffield.

Each week starts with a brief reflection on a theme followed by a Bible reading, a suggested practice and a prayer for each day of the week.

These can be printed in the quantity needed for the congregation and inserted in the weekly worship bulletin for worshippers to take home and use throughout the week. Additionally, small groups, sessions, staffs or Sunday school classes could commit to the daily practices and discuss their experiences of them when they gather. Themes include “wilderness temptations” and “turning tables” with each applied to daily living. As a bonus, there are prayers for each day of Holy Week.

Use these devotions to enrich your spiritual life and help the congregation have a “holy Lent” as they prepare for Holy Week and Easter.

Download the PDF, print as many as you need and insert them into your weekly worship bulletin. Your purchase includes a bulletin-insert sized PDF (prints on a half-page regular sheet of paper) and a large-print version. Both color and black-and-white versions are available. You have permission to print as many copies as needed for your use.

“These devotions are very approachable and reflect a conversational style that is both challenging and comfortable at the same time.  The questions raised are illuminating and thoughtful and very helpful in applying the Scripture in my daily life.”  – Dick Query, elder at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina
The 2018 bulletin inserts are no longer available for online purchase.  If you would like to buy them, please call George Whipple at  800-446-6008; ext. 756.
