Prayer for those in the path of Hurricane Michael

Holy One who calms the stormy seas, the evacuation calls have been made and preparation time has ended for those in the path of Hurricane Michael.

God, as people prepare for impact, we pray for those in the Florida Panhandle as this could be the strongest hurricane to hit them in their history. We pray for the vulnerable ones who heard the calls for evacuation but could not leave due to health, finances, transportation and the valuable resources they do not possess.

As Hurricane Michael prepares to make landfall, we pray for the helpers who are present in the path of the storm, and those ready to be mobilized around the country, ready to help whomever they can, whenever they can.

We pray that the storms calm, but realize the reality of the situation. In this time of uncertainty of the impact of the storm, be ever present O Great God of us all. Bless the officials making the difficult calls. Bless those figuring out how they will respond once the hurricane has passed. Bless the many servants who daily remind us of your love and care.

Be with all those in the path of Hurricane Michael. May you calm the stormy seas in their hearts. May we know your steadfast love and protection is with us all always.  Amen.

You are welcome to use this prayer in worship.  Please email info@pres-outlook for permission to reprint.
