(PNS) The Presbyterian Publishing Corporation (PPC) is excited to announce that Rev. David Maxwell will become the vice president and executive director for Geneva Press effective Jan. 1, 2019.
Geneva Press encompasses the newly consolidated curriculum publishing unit, The Thoughtful Christian study downloads, The Presbyterian Leader.com, books that relate specifically to Presbyterian polity and beliefs, and hymnal and music resources. Maxwell will become a member of the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation’s executive staff and will report directly to the President and Publisher of PPC.

Related to this new appointment, PPC President and Publisher Marc Lewis said, “David’s exceptional knowledge of the PC(USA), his proven track record of working effectively with others in and across church structures to develop resources, and his passion for education and discipleship make him the ideal person to lead this new area of publishing ministry for PPC. I am convinced that he not only has the right skills but that his eagerness and openness to listen well and to work well with others to focus on serving well the PC(USA) audience and the broader Christian community with well-developed and needed Christian education and study resources is particularly needed at this juncture.”
Maxwell grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has degrees from the University of Oklahoma and Yale Divinity School. His early ministry was highlighted by hands-on ministry work in mission areas, especially in Central and South America. He worked in the World Mission program of PMA prior to joining PPC in 2004. While in PPC, David helped start The Thoughtful Christian program of downloadable studies, The Presbyterian Leader, served on the hymnal committee that produced Glory to God, and was the primary PPC staff person in the development of the new Book of Common Worship. He has acquired and edited many other successful WJK and Geneva books and resources, including many books with PPC’s top selling author Walter Brueggemann.
