Recently a Presbyterian woman from Houston showed up in a church several hundred miles away for the confirmation of her godchild. One of her friends asked, “Doesn’t it cost a lot for you when you have so many godchildren?” She answered: “No. I don’t give them money or presents, I give them me. I call them once a week. I send cards and notes. I listen to them and sometimes offer advice. I expect them to care and to respond.”
