You are all frontline heroes,
from red-eyed stockers to baggers.
Still, I make a place in my heart
those working the register.
For I must flash past
like an apple across your scanner,
here and then rolling on,
while your line remains long.
You did not have to ask
how I was doing, your eyes
shining above your mask.
Yet, your grace helped me realize
how indebted I truly am,
for my daily bread. Amen.
