Powell, a Presbyterian minister, currently serves as pastor and head of staff at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church in Helotes, Tex. At Mo-Ranch, he will succeed David W. Jordan, who will retire this fall after 12 years as the conference center’s president.
Powell earned a master of divinity degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and religion from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
He also has experience in the business world, including working for seven years as a vice-president of manufacturing with R. G. Barry Corp. in San Antonio and founding the economic development consulting firm Powell and Associates in Boerne, Tex.
Mo-Ranch, located near Hunt, Tex., has operated since 1949 as a camp and conference center affiliated with the Synod of the Sun.
