Westminster Presbyterian Church – Sparta, Illinois

screen-shot-2016-09-15-at-9-22-43-amDuring Lent this year, we explored a theme of telling our faith stories during worship. We are a congregation, like many in our denomination, that is good at showing others our faith in action, but maybe not always comfortable sharing our faith vocally. We want to work toward changing that.

dsc_0307To do this, we invited members of our congregation to come forward during worship on Sunday mornings to share their individual faith story. Three people took us up on the invitation, and every other week during Lent, they took to the pulpit and shared how God has moved in their lives.

During Easter Sunday worship, we invited another 20 members to share their stories through “cardboard testimonies.” There wasn’t a dry eye in worship as we witnessed the personal nature of resurrection.

This process of telling our faith stories has reminded us all of how powerfully the Spirit moves in our presence every day of our lives and how Christ uses our family of faith to reflect God’s love and grace.

What is right with our church? God is in our midst, and we are blessed!
