Forman Christian College returned by Pakistan

David Stoner, who has been a principal party in negotiations with the Pakistani government, reports that Forman Christian College in Lahore will be formally turned over to PC(USA)-designated college principal Peter Armacost, today, March 20.

Therefore, after 31 years under government management — and negotiations over the past nine years with four different Pakistan Governments — the college will once again be under management of the Christian community.

Armacost is the president emeritus of Eckerd College (Fla.). He and his wife have been living on the college campus since early January, planning for the resumption of PC(USA) management of the college.

“We will commence immediately instituting a plan for the renovation of the campus facilities and the improvement of the academic standards,” said Stoner. “The work over the next decade will require much help from skilled educators and philanthropists interested in education as a long term solution to some of more critical problems facing the world today.”
