He died September 18 in Valdosta; a memorial service was held at First Church, Valdosta, where he was interim pastor until last year.
Thomson was born in Ashland, Ky., and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Va. He was the pastor of Presbyterian churches in Fayetteville, N.C., Mobile and Gulf Shores, Ala., Warrant, Ark., and Albany and Valdosta, Ga. He had also served as director of the Presbyterian Student Center at Valdosta State University.
Survivors include his mother, Iris Thomson of Rochester, N.Y.; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Dave Boyer in Penfield, N.Y.
