PITTSBURGH, July 4, 2012 – The 220th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) celebrated in the recognition of mission workers present at and represented by the assembly.
Current Presbyterian mission coworkers with a collective 428 years of service were recognized by the assembly. Other mission coworkers were commissioned including six Young Adult Volunteers (YAV). Roger Dermody commissioned the team of YAVs and mission coworkers present this evening and the assembly.
Victor Chilenje of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian in the Synod of Zambia addressed the assembly and led those gathered in prayer. In his address, he gave thanks for Presbyterian brothers and sisters with whom the African church shared solidarity in missional endeavors. He said, “We are joined today with many Presbyterians across the world who have sent their prayers… as we gather together in God’s mission in the world.”
