“We are very excited to have Sherry Kenney join the Ministry Relations Officers team, said Stephen Keizer, Vice President for Ministry Relations. Sherry’s vast experience and high level of enthusiasm will be an asset in her role as a Ministry Relations Officer. She is committed to helping Presbyterians develop gifts for the ministries they are most passionate about and serving as a resource for pastors in developing communities of generosity in the church.”
Kenney holds certifications as a Chartered Financial Consultant, Certified Financial Planner, and Chartered Life Underwriter. Her extensive experience as a retirement consultant and working with clients developing personalized plans makes her uniquely qualified to help our Presbyterian community develop giving plans that incorporate their financial goals as well.
“My good friend, the Reverend Holly Heuer, sent me the job description for this position and it felt like a call,” said Kenney. “Even though I was happily employed, I felt that I needed to see where this might lead. As I proceeded through the interview process, I became convinced this would be the next step in my pilgrimage, even as I continued to pray for discernment for myself and for those making the hiring decision. I am filled with gratitude at having been chosen for this exciting and vital work. I am eager to get on the road to meet those whom I will serve.”
In addition to her professional experience, Kenney is an ordained Elder attending Central Presbyterian Church in Denver. She has been very involved as co-chairperson of the Endowment Committee, Past Stewardship and Evangelism chairperson, teacher for the Bible Story Room and Adult Christian Education. Her involvement extends to her community serving with several non-profit organizations such as Families First, March of Dimes and the Downtown Denver Rotary.
Kenney resides in Denver, Colorado and will serve Presbyterians in Texas, Colorado, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
