Gratitude follows grace, Lord of all creation, and evidence of your grace overflows, spills out and engulfs us. How then can we not give thanks?
Waking to the crows’ squawks, the leaves’ song on the wind and the oranges of the sunrise, how can we not give thanks?
Sitting or serving at tables around which gather friends, family and former strangers now made into members of the household of God, how can we not give thanks?
Taking breath. Knowing you claim us. Being baffled by your unmerited forgiveness. Rejoicing in your abundant mercy, how can we not give thanks?
Reflecting on seasons of struggle now behind us, how can we not give thanks?
Recognizing your presence even in the middle of unanswered questions, how can we not give thanks?
Remembering that through the gift of your Son, Our Savior Jesus Christ, nothing can now separate us from you love, how can we not give thanks?
Receiving the promise of your peace that passes understanding, how can we not give thanks?
Our gratitude can never match the magnitude of your grace, so how can we not give thanks?
We ask only that you accept our sacrifice of praise this Thanksgiving Day and always. Amen.
