Meet the Presbyterian Outlook board: Ann Herlin

Ann Herlin is associate pastor at the Old Presbyterian Meeting House in Alexandria, Virginia, where she has served for 18 years.

During her years at the Meeting House, Ann’s work has touched on many different areas including service and justice, advocacy, education, young adults and member outreach. She now works part-time, with a focus on pastoral care.

Ann was raised in Palacios, Texas, where her church home was the small Presbyterian church attended by her parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. Her college years included summers working at the Presbyterian conference center Mo-Ranch and camp John Knox Ranch. Ann received her bachelor’s from Yale University in 1993 and her Master of Divinity degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2001. Prior to seminary, she taught first grade for two years in South Texas (as part of Teach for America), and then spent a year teaching English to elementary students in Costa Rica.

Ann serves on the development committee of the Presbyterian Outlook board. She is frequently the person who looks at a myriad of information and discerns what is important and not merely interesting. She is consistent, steady and wise and we are grateful for her service on the board.

Ann and her husband are the parents of two children, so she also spends many hours hanging out at playgrounds, reading children’s books and playing with princesses, Legos and trucks.

The Presbyterian Outlook Foundation is governed by a board of 15 directors. The Presbyterian Outlook is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3), funded through subscription sales, ad sales and donations.
