What’s the first thing you should do to get your church ready to engage technology in ministry? Get a TechSoup account! As with most of my technology recommendations, signing up for an account is free (I’m from the Midwest after all)! TechSoup (techsoup.org) is a gateway to access cutting-edge technology software and products at a price nonprofits can afford. Once you register a church or ministry with an account (note: for this one-time registration, you will need to produce your 501(c)(3) paperwork from the denomination and individual church), you can get great discounts on everything from popular software such as Microsoft Office products and licenses to hardware such as laptop and desktop computers. They also offer free how-to courses with many products. Before I say something is too expensive for the church I serve to afford, I always check TechSoup first. It has allowed churches to utilize technology at a reasonable cost while continuing to direct money toward ministry and mission.
