First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua — Whitehall, Pennsylvania
The way this congregation has pulled together during the pandemic has truly been an inspiration. We had a church “Talent(less) Show” on March 7, 2020, that was a huge success. By March 15, we had shut down the church building entirely and moved our services online. But despite having gone from that wonderful high to a frightening and unknown future, this congregation never faltered. Over the past year, they have worked harder than ever to share the love of Christ with the community and each other. They started a calling tree to check in on one another; invited friends far and wide to join us for online worship; purchased grocery gift cards for area families facing financial difficulties; collected hats, scarves and mittens for a shelter donation at Christmastime; and even went “Quarantine Caroling” to neighborhoods around the church to spread some Christmas cheer.
