Overview
Presbyterian Outlook has received grant funding in order to make Presbyterian theology more digitally discoverable. This past fall, we contracted an SEO expert to audit our website and provide a list of recommendations. This position will assist our digital content editor in implementing the recommended changes.
We seek an experienced SEO technician to optimize our WordPress-based website and improve our search engine visibility. The ideal candidate will have expertise in SEO strategy, content editing, and WordPress management, with a strong understanding of Presbyterianism and/or the work of the Presbyterian Outlook. This position will report to the digital content editor.
Responsibilities
- Assist in generating a new XML news sitemap.
- Edit and refine existing content to align with SEO best practices while maintaining theological integrity.
- Improve internal linking and site navigation to enhance user experience.
- Operationalize one or more link-building tactics.
- Review pages with low/no traffic to recommend improvements or removal.
- Collaborate with editorial staff to ensure SEO strategies align with the publication’s voice and mission.
- Review and update orphaned search console pages.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in SEO and WordPress site optimization.
- Strong editing skills and ability to refine theological content.
- Familiarity with Presbyterian theology and the PC(USA)
- Experience with SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Yoast SEO, or similar.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines within the 100-hour scope.
