“Paul believed in the Resurrection of Christ …. [He] took it as a part of his own experience. The Christ who had spoken to him in the ‘heavenly vision’ near Damascus in a meeting that changed the direction and quality and purpose of his entire life was the risen Christ, the same one to whose living-again the first disciples had witnessed years before. If you are making a list of the appearances of Jesus after Easter, he seems to say to the Corinthians, be sure to include how he came to me. [Paul] believed in the Resurrection as event in the life of every Christian; not an event but the Event. … Christ’s resurrection is not to be remembered or observed only; it is something to share. … The resurrection of your soul has already taken place, you are beyond death, you are sharers in history’s momentous hour.
