it’s often flung in a pejorative sense
yet to the French it meant noble, generous
in Latin it was pure, elegant
it is a word for a young dad
hoisting his boy from the back seat
this kid blinking back the bright
while his dad croons “my man!”
it is just like an old hymn
heard a hundred times before
suddenly singing your life
