Like other conference centers, Ghost Ranch has had to keep its doors closed throughout most of the COVID-19 pandemic. Small windows in state mandates allowed for limited on-site day visitors. We invited folks to “wide open space” while we were able. Some joined in trail rides or small, socially-distanced tours juxtaposing the artist Georgia O’Keeffe’s painting with the surrounding landscape.
We heard again and again: “I really miss Ghost Ranch!” So we started a campaign of the same name – IRMGR – that shared virtual and prerecorded Lenten offerings, virtual live events about Ghost Ranch history, pre-recorded content to celebrate special events like Georgia O’Keeffe’s birthday and a series of virtual workshops.
Through grants and continued support by our Ghost Ranch community of friends, some staff continued to work and engaged in “Project Wow,” undertaking long overdue maintenance and updates.
We have been blessed by the outpouring of good wishes, prayers, online merchandise orders and gracious donations that have kept us connected and sustainable in different ways.
