Come, Holy Ghost

Come, Holy Ghost
Come as a raging fire
Burn down the barriers that keep me from addressing wrong
Sear me clean of cowardice
Let me follow you into the darkness
To confront the demons who haunt our worse selves.

Come, Holy Ghost
Come as a fierce wind
Force me into the paths of righteousness
Blow away my dross
Let me run with you shining with God’s light
To trample those who would stifle the coming of the Kingdom of God

Come, Holy Ghost
Come as a fresh spring of water
Wash away my sin
Cleanse me from the past deeds of which I heartily repent
Let me drink and rise refreshed
To speak kindly, do justice, and walk humbly with God.

Come, Holy Ghost
Come today.
