Long before Masterpiece Living officially launched at Glen Meadows, signs of the new approach to senior living could be seen and heard across the community. One employee with a love for line dancing sparked a community-wide line dance set to Cupid’s “Cupid Shuffle” — bringing together residents and staff in an effort to help them lead more active and fulfilling lifestyles.
Claude Meekins is an activities assistant at the continuing care retirement community outside Baltimore and enjoys dancing in his spare time. In step with the Masterpiece Living approach to senior living, Meekins started a line dancing class at the community — providing residents and staff with an opportunity to challenge themselves physically and intellectually while building stronger relationships with their peers.
The Glen Meadows’ “Cupid Shuffle” music video features residents and staff across the community dancing to the popular group line dance. The video captures residents from independent and assisted living, as well as nursing staff, dining room chefs and even the community’s executive director.
At Glen Meadows, employees and residents are encouraged to bring their hobbies to life an effort to help individuals in the community be all they can be. In addition to line dancing, residents and employees can be found teaching fly-fishing, crafting or even Zumba classes.
