A letter to the PMA executive committee in response to ethics violations

Dear Rev. Gamm

The Racial Ethnic Caucuses of the PC(USA) welcome and support the recent decision of the Presbyterian Mission Agency’s Executive Committee to conduct an independent investigation of the recent unauthorized establishment of an independent corporation by four PMA employees, the procurement of funds and the release of grant monies to the corporation.

Although we enthusiastically support the 1001 Worshipping Communities initiative, we are concerned about the lapse in ethical conduct, failure to follow established policies and procedures as well as timely communication of this event to staff and congregations.

We will be following closely the unfolding of these developments and look forward to a just resolution that honors the values and goals of our denomination, the Gospel and the integrity of our mission together.

We continue to hold the PMA staff, board and our congregations in prayer and, respectfully, request to be kept informed of any new developments related to this situation.
