SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The new worshipping community, Through The Lens, in partnership with the Presbyterian Church of Wyoming has created a new Advent devotion book based on photography, Imago Adventus: A Photo Journey Through Advent.
Through The Lens is a PC(USA) 1001 New Worshipping Community. The group of both professional and hobbyist photographers combines the love of finding images through a camera lens with the spiritual aspect that can also be found through that same lens.
In Ohio, pastor Ed Goode worships God by using his camera to connect images to specific biblical passages. A partnership was formed as Cathy Newcomb, leader of the Through The Lens community and Goode saw how this visual concept could be used as a way to prepare for Christmas.
“Imago Adventus: A Photo Journey Through Advent” is a supplemental photo devotional based on Ann Voskamp’s book, “The Greatest Gift.” Each day a word will be used as the prompt for the day. These prompts follow the Jesse Tree to trace the journey of that first long Advent which lasted from the Garden of Eden to the birth of our Savior.
While Newcomb and Goode have included their own images, other photographers from the Through The Lens community have also contributed images. These photographs have been selected to represent each daily prompt. However, space was also intentionally left in the devotional to allow readers to add their own images as they relate to the daily prompt.
Imago Adventus is available as a free PDF download or as a bound photo book. Links for both can be found at www.ttlcommunity.com
